Feature
172 is a large, rectangular basin located in the southeastern quadrant of
the Miami Circle. The walls are vertical, with vertical tool marks evident in
some areas. Three small holes are present in the base of the feature. Large
and small limestone cobbles were found, some cemented to the walls of the basin.
Artifacts recovered from the midden fill include sand-tempered plain pottery,
bone artifacts, animal bone, marine shell, and chert flakes.
